These are from Florida trips in the mid-1990's. We fished off the East Coast.
Mostly off of Cape Canaveral. For 2 trips, we were in a 17' outboard, which is
small for where we fished.

Casting for Baitfish |
|
In the morning, or early afternoon, we'd catch our own bait, as to buy it was about $1/mullet. |

Shrimp |
|
At one point, we were out about 30 miles, to the Gulf Stream. We saw a shrimp boat, and they let us tie up. They wanted beer, so we traded for 50 lbs of shrimp. |

And also traded for 50 lbs of bait (crabs, etc). |

Big "fish" |

We hooked into something big, each taking turns in fighting it. |

Manta Ray |
|
After an hour or so (my memory is "foggy"), we brought it to the surface. Turned out to be a Manta Ray, about 6 feet across. We just cut the line. |

Steve and Tony |
|
What we fished for was Dolphin (Mahi). Incredible fish to catch, and tasty as hell, too. Brigh green and blue, great leapers and fighters. Tony nets Steves catch. |

Sunset |
|
We'd fish untul 2 or so, come in and rest, or swim, and then go back out at dusk for night bottom fishing. |
